Here is a rare and unique basically unsurpassed in my experience:


Below are bible records donated by Philip John Hamilton-Grierson in
February, 2006, most generously:

What I have found is a bible whose first page reads in ink " Augusta in
Georgia.

[1] James Grierson married to his wife Katherine 14th May 1767.

[2] Their son James Born 9th May 1768.

[3] Thomas Born 14th November 1770.

[4] David Born 24th January 1773.

[5]Their daughter Katherine Born 14th March 1775.

[6]Their son George Born 2nd July 1777.

[7] Thomas Grierson my Brother Died the 30th October 1777 about 7 o'clock
am.

[8] Katherine My dearly Beloved Wife Died The 20th August 1778 about 11
o'clock am aged to the best of my judgement 42 years.

[9] Katherine My dearly beloved and Sweet little daughter Died the 7th
September 1779 about half an hour past 2 o'clock in the morning. She was a
pretty and most promising child - my future hope and conastant care.

[10] James Grierson Junior Died at Augusta 10th March 1781.

[11] James Grierson Esq Colonel of the Militia of St Paul's parish in the
province of Georgia was cruelly murdered by the Rebels in Augusta on the 7th
day June 1781 two days after he surrendered in consequence of a
Capitulation.
