SOUTH THOMASTON (Aug 20): Margaret O. Grierson, 88, died peacefully surrounded by friends and family, following a long illness, Aug. 18, 2008, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born in South Thomaston on Oct. 15, 1919, she was the daughter of Winfield and Elizabeth Cummings Eaton. Educated locally, she attended the Basset School in South Thomaston.
Following school she married Howard Grierson in 1938. Mr. Grierson passed away in 1983.
For many years Margaret worked at National Sea Products and Holmes Packing Co. She was known for her beautifully crafted quilts. She enjoyed rides in the car with her family, going to yard sales, camping and watching television.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, Archie and Edward Eaton; a sister, Jenny Grierson, great-grandsons, Travis Murray and Bailey Callahan; and her beloved dog Zeke.
She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Philip and her husband, Freeland, of South Thomaston; grandchildren, Paul Callahan and his wife, Peggy, of Rockland, Dana Callahan Jr. and his wife, Autumn, of South Thomaston, Corinna Graham and her husband, Randy Sr. of Sheboygan, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Shane, Brent and Justin Callahan, all of Rockland, Laurie Woodcock and her husband, Freeman, of Spruce Head, Michael Campbell and his companion, Shae Mason, Tyler Smith, and Haley Callahan, all of South Thomaston, Joshua Murray of Connecticut, James Murray of Bradenton, Fla., Jessica Buchanan, Courtney Kretchman and Kristen Kretchman, and Randy Graham Jr., all of Sheyboygan, Wis.; great-great-grandchildren, Hanna Woodcock of Spruce Head and Gabriel Buchanan and Travis Buchanan, both of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Mildred Eaton of Cushing; special friends, Andrew York, Daphne Moss, Ina Firth, Mary Coolbroth, Bill Moss and Sandy and Esmond Kaler; her two beloved cats, Mittens” and Muffin; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at Ocean View Cemetery in South Thomaston. The Rev. Allen Jervey will officiate.

UNION (Sep 17): Richard Leland Grierson, 72, a resident of Payson Road, died suddenly Sept. 15, 2008, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a brief illness.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery on Overlock Hill Road in Union.
A complete obituary will be published.
