Thanks, Cindy! That was extremely helpful. From Lee County to Clay County, that is a most helpful lead, plus the fact that there 'was' a difference in the surname spelling: GRISWOLD to GRIZZLE. I had not caught that. My mother wasn't even aware of it. She said that she didn't think her mother (Bea Grizzle Farmer) was even aware of it, or she would have said something about it.

Thanks so much for the help. I think you just helped me break through this brickwall with the Grizzle's.

Dear TJ,

There is a Peter A who is the son of William and Zilphia Grizzle. He has
many siblings. The family is in Lee Co AL p391 in 1870 under the surname
Griswold William & Wilphia. (The W should be a Z, clearly seen in 1880 and
1900 census.) Peter is age 1. (I cannot find them in 1860 although they
should be in AL) The family is in Clay Co AL p89 in 1880 under
Grizzle/Grissle William & Zilph, Peter is 10. There are two other Grizzle
listings on p 95, one a William & family who might be Peter's brother and a
Henry who does not seem to match a sibling name from 1870. In 1900, Peter
is listed as head of household living with his mother Zilph in Clay Co AL p
132A. Zilph is listed as a widow who had 13 children, 7 living.

That is about all I have on them. Hope this helps.
