Happy Thanksgiving to all the Gross families,

Two years ago, I found a first cousin once removed, back in Connecticut.
Pamela Gross Stevenson, whom I had known about since 1958, was only aware of
her first cousin, my mother, who died in 1979, though they had never met. We
met face to face this past July in Kansas, where I grew up and where she was
born. We spent a wonderful week together at my middle sister's house. The
old adage "You can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives," is
not true in my case. If I were not related to this woman, I would
immediately seek her out as a friend! She is both related and a friend and,
I am doubly blessed!

In April, 2000, another first cousin, Pamela Gross Swain, contacted me via
the Genforum message boards and after much correspondence, I flew to Seattle
and we spent 3 days getting to know each other. Can it get any better??
Another first-class, quality friend. Am I blessed?? Absolutely. To make it
even better, while there in Seattle, her father called (my Uncle, Clifford
Gross)....and invited my husband and myself to come for Thanksgiving!! I had
not seen him since 1950!! We are going for Thanksgiving, along with Pamela
and Dave Swain and her sister, Jennifer and husband, whom I have not yet met.

Thanksgiving will take on a whole new meaning this year. We are planning a
small reunion this summer with Pam and Dick Stevenson in Kansas....and for
any other Gross relatives. I can hardly wait!

God is good.... I never dreamed I would ever get to meet these wonderful
family members. With genealogy as complex as it is and feeling that my feet
are only firmly planted in thin air, I know God's hand is directing all of
this. It is exciting and emotional to have new access to old photos of
gg-grandparents, uncles, aunts and all those who have passed on....but the
true miracle of genealogy is finding those who are alive and well.....as I
have.

Happy holidays to those seeking family....never give up....it's worth the
effort and the wait!

Be ye blessed!
Jackie Burnett
