I am proposing to write a book updating the history of my community ( a town
grown to over 70,000 persons) ih preparation for its centennial observance
shor tly.
The historical society has sufficient funds to "seed-corn" this book, to make
it a first -class operation.
What I am asking of you people is this:
What info have you found most valuable in the local history books you have
researched?
What info would you like to find (other than a complete rundown of your
personal family,natch)
What have you found most interesting in the books you have researched?
What has been most frustrating?
What are some examples of books that you have found very helpful?
How valuable have been lists, like lists of chamber presidents and lists of
city council members and school board members, etc.?
Has a section of sports activity been of any benefit to you?
Can you give me an idea of what price has been set on most of these books
printed in recent years, how many pages, volume of sales, etc.?
Look, this is the chance to recreate from scratch a really helpful book, so
give me some ideas.
love
joan
