Good morning, fellow rooters!

Looking for my gggrandfather, John LACKIE, b Nov 1859, New York.
According to 1900 Census, he was married to Lunena (Luienca? Other
records show the name Jeanette) M. LaVigne, b. Dec 1864, Vermont.
Marriage cert to J.M. LaVigne reflects the name LACKIE spelled LACKEY.
While this may have been a spelling error or such, the possibility that
it wasn't makes me wonder if the spelling of our name changed at some
point between John and Jean. (Point in case, the marriage cert in 1915
for his son, Jean, shows the name to be spelled LACKIE.)

Children Jean Crawford LACKIE, b May 1892, CT (my ggrandfather) and
Mamie LACKIE, b Dec 1880, New York.

I am stuck going back any further with John because his marriage cert
states simply that he was born in New York. WHERE in New York?? What
city, what county? Any ideas from anybody where I would begin
searching?

Additionally, if anybody recognizes any of these names, I would love to
hear from you.
