I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a city directory of East
Hartford/Hartford, CT for a John H. Blake (wife Margaret).

I know that a John H. Blake (wife margaret) resided in East Hartford during
the 1940's. That John H. Blake worked for Pratt & Whitney and elsewhere
during that time frame. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with any
other information that the lookup had. I also know that there was a John H.
Blake Jr. who resided there with his wife Maria and eventually relocated to
Georgia. Someone had previously looked this up for me but took more notes
on the John H. Blake Jr. person and not the first John Blake with wife
Margaret.

I believe that John H. Blake and his wife Margaret are my grandparents, and
have tried to find a time line from when they met, to where they resided
throughout the years, but the more information that I locate, the more
confused I become. I have searched CT, RI, and MD for marriage certificates,
and have found nothing.

The person that I believe is my grandfather was previously married - had
four children with his first wife and I just recently found out that his
first wife passed away in Feb 1978. I am not sure if they were married from
their wedding on 2/4/1918 to the time in which she passed away, but it does
list on my grandfather's death certificate that he was a widow at the time
of his death in 1983. My grandmother supposedly met him in 1934 and was
with him until 1954 at which time she said he passed away from a plane crash
(he never died in a plane crash) My grandmother passed away in 1993.

She told us that John Blake (my grandfather) was born July 1 in Providence,
RI and that he had a sister named Helen. This John H. Blake was born on
July 1, 1894 and had a sister named Helen. What confuses me is that my
grandmother and John Blake were together from 1933 on, and their first child
together was born in 1944, but she took his name in 1950 and he was possibly
still married to his first wife????

My question would be - How can I prove that this person is my grandfather if
he was married to his first wife all those years??? Does anyone have any
suggestions for this mystery of mine??? It does get more complicated
everytime I find something else out.

Can anyone give me any suggestions???

Kim
