My gr grandfather Charles Frederick STAGE (originally may have been
STAIGER/STAGGER) worked in a brass factory in Waterbury, Fairfield, CT,
1870-1880. In 1886, Charles served on the first Board of Education for Der
Deutscher Schul-Verein, a German language school in Waterbury.
In 1880, sons William E. and Frederick William, relocated to Shelton,
Fairfield, CT. William ran a barber shop; Frederick worked with him. Some
time after 1903, Frederick and Cora moved to West Haven, New Haven, CT.

I would appreciate any information regarding Charles and the family or
directions to find out when and through what port Charles and his wife
came. Have had little success in securing info. from CT; how else can one
access family information without hiring a professional? Have written to the
State and town clerks; can anyone suggest other economical sources for this
information? Thank you for any assistance.
