Hi researchers,
Can someone look up information regarding Richard Man(n), b. 5 Feb. 1652
Scituate Mass, m. c. 1683 to Elizabeth Sutton, also of Scituate, MA, who
moved to LEBANON, CT, raised a family there, and died there ca 1719.
Elizabeth Sutton is also said to have died there before 1691. His children
were:
1)John Mann, b. 1684, who moved to Strafield, CT, married there 24 May
1716, and died there ca 1721/2. He is said to have m. 1)(....?), and 2)
Rebecca Nichols. I have no primary documentation.
2)Rebecca Mann, b. 22 Mar. 1686
3) Hannah Mann, b. 13 apr. 1689
4) Nathaniel Mann, b. 27 Oct. 1693 Scituate. Inherited land from his
father, as I understand it from Geo. Sumner Mann's book, A Mann Memorial".
He m. 1) Mary Root; the descendants of Nathaniel are covered in Geo. Sumner
Mann's book.
5) Richard Mann, b. 10 Mar. 1694
6)Elizabeth Mann, b. 27 Aug. 1696
7) Abigail Mann, b. 23 Feb. 1698/9
8) Elisha Mann, b. ca. 1701.
If this last is an accurate date, Richard Man may have married again, as
Elizabeth Sutton Mann died "before 1691".
In addition to the above reference, I have also the reference of a MSS of
Moses Whitcher Mann, an amateur historian, ( not famous for his
references), my ggrandfather, who states that in 1703 Richard sold land in
Scituate to his brother, and purchased a homestead and other lands in
Middleboro, MA, and in 1705 still other in LEBANON, CT. This land in
Lebanon, and land due him for his service in Philip's War, he left to his
son Nathaniel. This latter land lay in HEBRON.
I would appreciate ANY and ALL information about this family and their stay
in Lebanon, CT; who the children married; the actual dates of death of
Richard and Elizabeth Sutton Mann. Who was the wife, if any, named at his
death?
Although I am descended from John Man(n) (#1 above), I seem to be getting
nowhere on Stratfield and East Haven records.
Thanks for any help anyone can give. Natalie
