Hi,
I subscribe to both the CT and the Portuguese Rootweb list. Is there anyone
in CT who can tackle this question from Dora Smith.
Thank you

I have a couple of further clues on my Anthony DeZocieur, DeSocieur or
DeJozier born 1707 on Terceira in the Azores. The latitude was north 38
degrees 55 minutes, and the longitude was west from London 26 degrees 44
minutes. I don't know if that helps pin down the town.
Further," he shipped on board a vessel bound to Boston, MA, commanded by
one Captain Henshaw, of Boston, where he arrived about the first of May,
1726." "From thence he sailed into Connecticut River to Middletown."
(from the diary written by one of Anthony's sons)
Is there a way to discover what ship that docked on Terceira in the Azores
previously to May, 1726, was captained by Captain Henshaw of Boston and
bound for Boston? Because Anthony's son, b 1746 and lived in Connecticut
on the Connecticut River, talked to quite a few people from the Azores who
had met his father and dined in his father's house, whether they were
travellers or sailors who had jumped ship in New England and stayed there
like himself, I would tend to think that his father's house was located in
or near a town where New England ships docked regularly between 1726 and
say 1770.
Yours,
Dora Smith
