Dear Barbara,
The SSDI list is the people who received benefits. I do know that by sending
the SS# (i found mine off of death cert) to the Social Security Administration
they will send you a copy of the application. One did not need to be a
citizen to receive or file for benefits. I could not find my grandmother or
grandfather on the index but did send and receive the application when I
supplied SS with the number. It lists (sometimes) the father, mother's maiden
name , birthplace, DOB.
