All,

I recently purchased a copy of the Commemorative Biographies of
Hartford County, Connecticut published by J.H Beers of Chicago in
1901. It contains biographical information which may be of interest
to some Connecticut researchers. There are about 1500 pages of
material.

I have transcribed a few entries so far and posted them on our homepage
at < http://hakmiller.rootsweb.com/ > in the Documents section. They may, of
course, be screen captured. The posted entries presently include all of
the COLLINS biographies in the book, some of the COWLES biographies. and
(as yet) none of the WEST biographies. In a week or so, I will have
completed all of these transcriptions and posted them.

Among the three COLLINS entries is one tracing descent from John Collins in
the early 1600s in England to the Collins in Hartford County of the late
1800s. Among the COWLES entries posted so far is one tracing descent from
John Cowles (d. 1675) to Walter Goodman Cowles (b. 1857).

The biographies I've mentioned are of special interest to us and are all I
plan to
post. However, I'm willing to do look-ups of other surnames; my email address
is in my signature.

Karl
