Interesting discussion on the GRAVES family line from Connecticut. Here
are the GRAVEs I've found in my line. The older ones came from a Personal
Ancestry File (PAF) on the LDS FamilySearch site, so must be taken with a
certain grain of salt:
Henry Graves, b. 1536, Stepney, England, d. 14 Dec 1591 Wife unk
--John Graves, b. 17 Sep 1581, Stepney, England, d. 15 Dec 1637, Stepney
----John Graves, b. bet 1625/1635, England, d. 19 Sep 1677, Hatfield, MA
------Benjamin Graves, b. abt 1645, Concord, CT, d. 18 Mar 1715,Saybrook, CT
m. Mary Hoar, b. 1648, d. 5 Jun 1697 in Mass.
--------John Graves, b. 1683,Saybrook, m. Hannah Farnham in Killingworth, CT,
on
30 May 1710, d. 29 Dec 1766
----------Silvanus Graves, b. 17 Jul 1729, Saybrook, CT, d. 4 Feb 1801,
Killingworth,
CT, m. Lydia Hull 12 Mar 1759 in Killingworth.
-------------Rachel Graves, b. 24 Feb 1769, Killingworth, d. 21 Apr 1850 in
Killingworth,
m Orrin Redfield 10 Mar 1796 in Killingworth.
The last two generations (Rachel and Silvanus) I have confirmed
independently from other sources, so I know they're pretty accurate. Rachel
and Orrin, who would be my ggggrandparents, named their first child Sylvanus
Graves Redfield, FWIW.
Correspondence from mutual interests greatly appreciated!
