Wonder if some of you better versed in CT history than I could respond a
thought or two on a question I have.
Sometime after 1800, my CT ancestors (Killingworth, Middlesex co.) left
the old homestead and settled in eastern Ohio (Summit county, to be exact).
Now, I know the history of the Western Reserve, but my encyclopedia says the
area was ceded back to Ohio in 1800. So the question is: Did many CT
families still move westward into what used to be Connecticut's Western
Reserve, or was my family line that moved there unique? Near as I can tell
from census reports, the families moved there between 1820 and 1830. Kinda
would like to know what might have been on their minds at that time. Thx for
any thoughts on the topic. Ray in Las Vegas
