Subject: [GenConnecticut-L] New Haven Birth Certificates

Hi Gary,
Actually, it's only New Haven that is that way. Most of the small towns
are really great. I have received certificates within a week from places
like Wallingford & Milford. Bridgeport is another pain in the butt. They
will hold your request for 8 or 9 months and then send a form letter "no
record" or a freshly typed "copy" of the record. Most of the information
we would want from a certificate is typed N/A. The last marriage certificate
I received from them contained only the information that I had supplied them
with. No parents, birth dates, etc.
New Haven will let you in to do your own search (2 1/2 hrs. on Wed.
mornings) but you must belong to a CT Genealogical Society. This is a
requirement all over the state.
