Subject: [GenConnecticut-L] KIDDER / FOX
Marriages (3) with connections to NH and CT, 1700's/1800's
Good morning,
In my continuing search for KIDDER information in New England, this
morning
I have come across three Kidder / Fox marriages, which all have
connections
to Connecticut:
In 1780, Mr. Bethiah Kidder married Elisha Fox. I haven't
checked out
Bethiah's origin yet. But, Elisha was born in Lyme,
CT, to Amos and
Deborah (Minor) Fox.
In 1789, Joseph Kidder married Mercy Fox. He was the
son of Noah Kidder.
Mercy was born in Lyme, CT, to Amos and Deborah (Minor) Fox.
Around 1815, Joseph Kidder was married to Eunice Nancy
Fox. Joseph was
the son of Joseph and Mercy (Fox) Kidder. Eunice was
born in East Haddam,
CT, to Aaron and Eunice (Beebe) Fox.
Joseph and Mercy (Fox) Kidder seemed to have moved around a little.
According to the "Kidder Family History Book," Joseph was born around
1760
in Vassalboro, ME, to Noah Kidder. Even though his
wife was born in Lyme,
CT, they lived their married life in Enfield, NH, and their children
were
born there.
Their son, Joseph Kidder, was born in Enfield, NH, but he married
Eunice
from East Haddam, CT. It is unknown where they
married or where they
lived or where their first three children were
born. Their fourth child
was born in Lyme, CT, but their fifth child was born in Goshen,
VT. I
don't know if that is an error in the Kidder book. It is
possible ..
because both Louisa (Kidder) Scoville and her sister, Ellen (Kidder)
Willey
.. lived their married lives in East Haddam, CT.
The specific reason I am looking at these families is I am trying to
find
out whether there is a connection between... these Kidder
families in CT
... and Mr. Sandforth Kidder who was living in Lyme, CT, in
1820. He was
reportedly born in 1793. At some point in the early
1800's, Sandforth
Kidder moved to Texas. And, his descendants continue
to live near San
Antonio. After all these years, the
Kidder researchers in Texas cannot
create a "family line." They cannot
find out who Sandforth Kidder's
parents were.
Thank you for your
time, Betty
(near Lowell, MA)
