Speaking of photographs I'd like to mention something that happened to me
last year. I was visiting my Aunt Grace in Flint Michigan and we were going
through her collection of our old family photos when I came across one that
was identified "Mariah CLAYTON - Grandmother". I almost dropped it. Wow! I
knew, from my research that my 2g-grandmother Mariah Jackson MARTIN/RAGAN had
married a John CLAYTON after my 2g-grandfather, Isaiah RAGAN had passed away.
So this meant we'd found a photo of my 2g-grandmother. I was excited! Then
when looking further I found a family portrait with the same lady in it.
This was a family portrait with them and all their children. Apparently it
was made in 1877 because that's the year their last child was born, there was
a baby sitting on Isaiah's lap and he died in July of that year.
Yes those old photos are important. If you find one have copies made,
identify the people in them and distribute them to family members.
