I know here in Wisconsin, there was a 'farm' in most counties. I know
definitely that there was a County Farm in the following counties: Dunn,
Chippewa, Eau Claire, Walworth, Barron, Pepin and Buffalo.
While some may call it a 'poor' farm, it actually was self-sufficient, and a
lot of 'challenged' individuals lived and worked there. It was usually also
the county mental hospital, both for short term care and longterm. In the
case of both Dunn County and Eau Claire county, at one time, they also housed
the Drug rehab facilities and other addiction cares.
Just a bit of info for those who wondered.
