From the time I learned of my connection with Francis and Adara Haile, the
general concensus amount Hail researchers has been that Adara was a Dudley. I
have followed every wild goose chase presented to me and have concluded that
Adara was not a Dudley.
Five years ago while attempting to help a fellow researcher, I stumbled upon
information that has led me in a different direction. It is my belief that
Adara was a Meador. I have and am in the process of researching every line
which connects to the Meadors or Hailes (even witnessess) in Essex and Old
Rappahannock Counties, VA. Some of this information has been charted but it
is by no means complete and some of it is still in need of verification.
Victor P. Meador's book, Our Meador Families of Colonial Virginia, has been
invaluable in my research; he did a wonderful job. As in any research,
however, I have discovered some information which remained obscure when his
book was published.
It is my hope that Hail and Meador researchers will remain open-minded. Much
of the early information cannot be documented, and therefore one must rely on
circumstantial evidence. Any additional information that might be helpful
will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested, just contact me.
