Cousins-

It has been brought to my attention that there is some confusion about the
"cost" of belonging to mailing lists here at RootsWeb. Following is some
information on this subject. Please read this message in it's entirety,
there is some important information included.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the mailing lists
you subscribe to here at RootsWeb are completely, 100% FREE!!

No subscriber to any RootsWeb list is required to pay for any list services.
Contributions to the RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative are strictly on
a voluntary basis.

While encouraging everyone to voluntarily support RootsWeb, it should be
understood that this is NOT a requirement.

If you are interested in supporting this fine genealogical service, please
visit the following site on the Web.

REMEMBER, your contributions should always go directly to RootsWeb. You
should never be asked by any list owner, moderator or coordinator of any
RootsWeb list to contribute funds directly to that person. All donations
should go directly to RootsWeb at either the snail mail address given on
the web site or via their secure credit card server.

If you should be asked for such a donation, please forward that email
directly to me at so that it can be reported to the
proper administrators.
