Hi,

I've been reading all of the recent messages with great interest, as my
family research has come to a dead end with my great-grandfather Robert
Henry Haley. What I believe to be factual is that Robert was born
around 1839 in TN (do not know the county or town) and that his father
was born in VA and his mother born in NC (names unknown). Robert
eventually settled in Posey County, IN (and from that point on I do have
more records).

The other piece of the puzzle comes from family folklore, which said
that our European Haley ancestor emigrated to the US from Ireland and
was named John Henry Haley. If this is true, and if it is true that
Robert's father was born in VA, then John Henry could be Robert's
grandfather (or further back).

At any rate, if any of this sounds even remotely familiar to anyone, I
would love to hear from you, as I am completely stuck on my Haley line.

Regards,

Glenda Haley Shastry
