I am happy to see you found the source of your family (Irish, as in your web page), but that is hardly the only source for this surname. Other sources that I know of are Saxon, Scots and French (as in Sir Roger de Hallee for example). Too much info to go into in a simple e-mail. Just be aware that there are other spellings and variants for these families. I myself have Scot (non highland Celt) descent. The lowland language being Angle, the spellings are surly based on the phonetics of this language, not Gaelic.
Now if I can just find that Eggleston connection in my line of "Haley's" that went to Wilson Co. TN., I will be happy for the moment.
In the sprit of adventurous research

I am searching for information on William Healy (b. 1814 in Ireland) who married Ann O'Malley (b. 4/4/1822 Dublin) on October 25, 1849 and came to the US shortly after marriage. Arrived in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA in May of 1850 and changed name to Haley. I have hit a wall and need your help. see my site: www.haleyfamilytree.com<http://www.haleyfamilytree.com/>
