Dianne: Just had to respond to this. We lived in Kansas City, MO, and
there was a Robert Hall store there, too. I have no idea who started this
chain of stores, but we always jokingly called it "ours", because my Dad was
Robert G. Hall. (Incidentally, I am 73 years of age, and am going 'way back
in my memory. I have no idea when the store pulled out of Kansas City, or
whether it just folded, or what.)

Sorry I can't help with the origin of the store, but wanted to let you know
it must've been a chain -- we had one in K.C., and you had one in
Milwaukee -- no doubt there were more.

Subject: Robert Hall Retail Store

: This will sound like a wacky question but it's something I have often
wondered
: about.
:
: When I was a small child (c. 1950) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin there was a
large
: retail store called "Robert Hall". It was some type of department store
because
: I recall seeing teapots (and have one my mother purchased there) and
ladies
: lingerie.
:
: I am assuming this was a chain store but it's just a hunch because in my
childs
: memoriy it was a large exciting place to shop. We moved to Florida in
1954 and
: I've never heard of another store by that name.
:
: I've always wondered if Robert Hall belonged on a twiglet on my family
tree.
: Does anyone recall a similar place and does anyone know who this Robert
Hall was?
:
: TIA...dianne
