Here's a story that may or may not be true. A college student wanted to
join a fraternity. Some of the members told him that they had noticed
that he wore Robert Hall suits (instead of the designer suits that the
rest of them wore), so they suspected that he couldn't keep up with them
financially and it would be better if he didn't join. The young man
nodded and withdrew his application. On the way out he mentioned that
Robert Hall was his father.

I don't know what college this was supposed to be or when, and it may not
be true, but it's interesting that the possibility didn't even occur to
them. Shows how common a name Hall is, or maybe how much they drank. :-)
