Hi Tom,
Sorry, I don't recognize William and Rachel as being in "my line" of
Halsey's. My GGGF was James H. Halsey, b.1821 d.1864 (approx.), born in
Hancock County, Georgia. I did a quick scan of predecessor Halsey's in his
"line" and did not see either a William or Rachel Cobb Halsey mentioned.
Sorry, would like to help you and share research, but would apparently be
not help to you at this time.
Note: James H. Halsey migrated to Barbour Co., Alabama, and was later killed
in the Civil War about 1863 to 1864. Widow, Sarah Tucker Halsey, moved with
Children to Clay County,Georgia, just over the Alabama-Georgia State line.
Later, Sarah apparently remarried to migrated to Bell County, Texas, then
possibly to Nueces Co., Texas.
Regards,
Marcus Halsey

Hello: William Halsey and Rachel Cobb Halsey were my g-g-great grandfather
and grandmother through their daughter Rachel Persilla Halsey, born about
1803. Perhaps their last child, born in either Piney Creek, NC, or southern
Virgina, just a few miles to the north. I am curious as to Rachel's
brothers and sisters, and birthdates if known. I have loads of information
to share.
