The Shorter Oxford Eng Dict says that a hog is a young sheep, "esp. one from the time it ceases to be a lamb until its first shearing. Now chiefly Sc. & dial". Also "Any of various farm animals of a year old."
Perhaps the comment I thought I read was from a Hampshire Hog who didn't want to grow up - or be shorn!
