I don't know how this thread got started, but as a boy living in Aldershot,
we often asked the junior kids if their parents bought treacle from Tongham
Treacle Mines. Tongham being a village just over the border in Surrey. I
don't know why it was supposed to have treacle mines.

Another village just outside Aldershot is Bagshot Lea. For this we used to
ask: "Have you been to see the Queen Mary at Bagshot Lee Docks yet?" The
water company had a very large reservoir at Bagshot Lea where a sailing club
used to be.
