Hi Listers
Any Navy buffs out there? My late mother was first married in 1942 just 10 days after her 21st. Her first husband was on Hms Grove (A destroyer, part of R/Admiral Vian's Malta convoys?) when it was torpedoed in the Med' on the 12th June 1942 by U Boat 77(?).I believe he went down with the Ship, I assume as he was an Engine room artificer he must have been in the engine room. His name is on the Chatham Naval Memorial,so I assume it was Chatham ship. My mother was born in Salford Lanc's and they were married there. So once again I assume he was a local man?.How did he join a Chatham ship? My mother never spoke about him and when asked by me why, she said it was a part of her life in the past.Where can I find out more about his ship.
TIA
