Zed and Ilma in Tasmania request info on this hotel so we thought we would send it to the list in case others are interested.

From: Brockenhurst and the 2 World Wars

1. BRIARS HOTEL , located at junction of Avenue and Sway Roads,
requisitioned at begining of war to house pupils from the evacuated
Portsmouth Secondary school for Boys. (Page 157 of reference).

2. Badly damaged by first of stick of 7 bombs that fell on Brockenhurst at
3.0 a.m. on 13th August 1940. ( Page 164) No recorded casualties.

3. Site later cleared and present block of flats built in the 1960's.
