Good morning,

I have a question, but I am not sure if my ancestors in question were part of
the actual HandCart expeditions or not. If this question is not proper for
this list, please excuse me. I've just begun research on this section of my
ancestry, and am not very knowledgable on the Mormon aspects of it as of yet.

I have a Robert MARTIN, Jr. who married Marinda STEWART on 2 May 1830 in
Morgan Co., ILL, who were my 3rd great grandparents. Marinda was the daughter
of Philander Barrett STEWART and wife Sarah SCOTT.

In approximately 1847, Robert Martin died. Robert and Marinda's last child,
Mary Elisabeth Stewart, was born in Oct of 1847 in Keg Creek, Pottawattamie
Co., Iowa. By the 1850 census, Marinda and children were listed by themselves
in Fremont Co., IA.

I do know that the Stewarts and Martins were of the Mormon religion, evidently
when the religion was just starting out in 1847. Fremont and Pottawattamie
Counties do not have any records at all of Robert Martin's death or burial. I
was told by a historical society in Fremont Co. that numerous Mormons were
buried 'up on the hill' apparently without record as far as the county
government goes.

Here's my question. Would there be any kind of records among the Mormon
records that would tell whom these numerous folks were that died and were
buried on the hill of this Keg Creek settlement?

Thanks in advance,

Teddy in CA
