The Paul and Ellison Gourley family were in the martin Handcart Co. The history we have describes the death of their 9 mo. old daughter Margaret as taking place in "West Scottia" Iowa. I cannot find such a place on my Iowa maps, however, there is a "Wescotta" town which is in the approximate vicinity of where the handcart company was at the time of her death--Aug 14th.

Any of you have access to old Iowa maps, or have any other way to find if there may have been a name change from "West Scottia" to "Wiscotta" or "Wescotta"? or whether it may have been a distinctly separate location?
