At least 16 of the early Hanks young men in Virginia served in
Virginia regiments during the Revolutionary war.
They were:
Abner Hanks b-1763 Richmond Cty. Private
Abraham Hanks b-1759 Amelia Cty. Private
Alexander Hanks killed in action in, New York City
David Hanks moved to North Carolina
Epiphroditus Hanks b-1747 fought in battles of Brandywine, Bunker
Hill, and Yorktown
George Hanks killed in action , Yorktown, son of Luke
James Hanks b-1759 Dinwiddie Cty.
John Hanks 3rd and 4th Continental Line
Joshua Hanks b-1760 Amelia Cty., son of Richard
Moses Hanks b-1746 Lancaster Cty., son of Luke I
Richard Hanks b-1723 Richmond Cty., son of Wm. II
Thomas Hanks b-1759 son of Joseph
Thomas Hightower b-1751 Amelia Cty., son of Susannah Hanks
William Hanks 6th Virginia Regiment, Continental Line
