Rose Savage listed a number of Hanks men who served in the American
Revolution. Moses Hanks, son of Luke Hanks, was on her list. He
performed patriotic service in the form of signing an oath of allegiance
to the Continental U.S. However, he did not serve in any regiment as far
as is known.

He is recognized by the Daus. of the Am. Revolution and Sons of the Am.
Revolution as a patriot of the Am. Revolution, and people can join these
societies if they trace their lineage through him (as I do), but he did
not serve as a soldier.
