Good afternoon to all
I had a reply to my query of yesterday re John Hanks Jr. and Charity that I
thought was Charity Gatlin. I have received a very nice message confirming
my theory. Now, since that one worked so well, perhaps someone can help me
with this one - also theory.
At the 1820 census for Hopkins Co. Ky, John Hanks Jr. had the following
people living in his household:
1 male to 10 yrs 1 female to 10 yrs
1 males 10-16 1 female 10-16 yrs
4 females 16-26
1 male 45+ 1 female 45 +
Now, I know that my Sarah Hanks (dau of John Hanks and Charity) was their dau
b. 1797 in TN, m. to Zachariah Clinton 21 Nov. 1821 in Hopkins Co. Ky.
But I think that Charlotte Hanks b. 1803 and married to Micajah Phelps on 24
Oct 1824 in Hopkins Co. was another dau. And also, there was a Mary Matilda
(Polly) Hanks who was married to Green Derrington in western Ky
and I think she was also the dua of John Hanks and Charity.
Now, in the mid 1820's, Zachariah and Sarah Hanks Clinton, Green and Mary
Matilda Hanks Derrington, and Micajah and Charlotte Hanks Phelps all went
together to Perry Co. IL.
Green Derrington died and Mary Matilda married William Bonner.
They were all in Jackson Co. IL by 1840, and by 1850, CHAIRTY HANKS AND MARY
MATILDA BONNER were living in the same household with Zachariah and Sarah in
Jackson Co.
In 1850, Mary Matilda and Wm. Bonner had separated and she later filed for a
divorce.
Charity died after the 1850 census . She was 84 yrs old at the 1850 census.
Charlotte Hanks Phelps also died, and Micajah then married my ggg grandmother
Margaret Logan Davis (whose husband Philip Davis had also died).. Margaret
and Philip's dau Mary Ann Davis had married Zachariah and Sarah Clinton's son
John B. Clinton (my gg gf)
Any ideas from anyone on this??? I'll be happy to share any info that I have
with anyone who is interested. Thanks
