William Hanks, born c. 1650, resided on Moraticon Creek in the Northern Neck of VA.. His estate was probated in 1704 in Richmond Co., VA. It was divided into 4 parts, one part to the widow, Sarah, who had married Richard White, and the balance to 3 sons, William Hanks II, b. 1679, Richmond Co., VA; Luke Hanks I, b. aft. 1679 and bef. 1687; John Hanks I, b. aft. 1687, for he was not yet 21 in 1708 (Guardian Acct.) Data from Baber's "The Hanks Family of Virginia and Westward", revised 2nd edition will be out by end of 2003.
