After Nancy's parents died, she went to live with relatives in NC. We
believe that she resided in the home of her Uncle Dicky (Richard Hanks II
(son of Richard Hanks & Mary Hinds). Uncle Dicky and his brother James Hanks
lived on the South Fork of the Catawba River in Lincoln county. The Richard
Berry family were their neighbors.
Richard Berry's son Richard Berry, Jr. married and moved to Kentucky. Nancy
Hanks later joined these friends and stayed in their home until she married
Thomas Lincoln. Richard Berry, Jr. signed her marriage bond and the wedding
took place in his home.
