I have information from the 1860 Census Illinois, Greene Co. Illinois. Pg.101-Dwelling #631 Family No. Thomas Hanks 64 M. FarmerVal. Land 7,000 Val. Per. Prop.1,000. B. South Carolina Elizabeth. Wife 53 yrs. B. Tennessee. listed in household David Hanks 30 male Farmhand Born Illinois. Emeline Female age 20 B. Ill. Thomas 19 male B. Ill. Elizabeth 16 F. B. Ill. James age 15 B. Ill Nathan B. 11 B. Ill.John 7 B. Ill. aslo listed in household is a young man age 11 born in Ill. his name being Harden Alberson. The postoffice is in Breeseand also Whitehall. My family is related to the Hanks thru Harris, Groce, Golike, Norval. Would be more then happy to share what I have. My grandfather was born in 1864 and when I was a little girl he told me a story about being at his family home and Abraham Lincoln stopped to visit Thomas Hanks and Polly Groce and he gave a piqoun (Not sure if spelled right) but it was a wood token you could take to local grocer and get a 1pen!
