Funeral services were held for Olga Hanks on Friday, August 7, 1981 from the United Methodist Church in Tilden.
The Rev. Stan LaRue of Tilden officiated. Organist was Miss Ruth Horn. Soloist was Robert Karabel accompanied by Mrs. Karabel.
Pallbearers were George Horn, Leonard Horn, Norman Hansen, Ronald Reikofski, Ervin Reikofski and Dennis Kleider. Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Tilden.
Olga Edna Hanks, the daughter of Hans Nelson and Christianna (Rasmussen) Nelson was born at Bennington, Nebraska on September 16, 1884.
She attended public school and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Bennington.
On June 10, 1907 she was married to Albert C. Hanks at Bennington. The couple farmed south of Tilden until moving into town in 1942. Albert died on June 11, 1946 and Olga became a resident of the Heritage Village in August of 1977.
Mrs. Hanks died on August 5, 1981 at the Heritage Village Nursing Home at the age of 96.
She is survived by one son, Clarence Hanks of Arlington, VA; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Evelyn) Funk of Fort Wayne, IN and Mrs. Edwin (Garnet) Kleider of Omaha; ten granddaughters; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Oelsligle of Tilden and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Wayne Nelson of Millard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Orville, one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) O'Dey, four brothers and five sisters.
