After an invalidism of almost 11 years Mrs. C.W. Hanks answered the final summons at 1:30 am Monday.
Since the death of her husband in 1915 she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W.M. Jones.
Funeral services were held at the home at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon and 2:30 at the church, conducted by Rev. O.A. Fortune, assisted by Rev. F. V. Mann.
Martha Fields was born in New York December 16, 1852. While a small girl, she moved with her parents to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to Charles W. Hanks on Nov. 15, 1872 and moved to a farm south of Tilden in 1880. To this union 4 daughters and 1 son were born. The eldest daughter, Mable Clara died June 12, 1892 at the age of 19. Martha's husband departed this life May 12, 1915.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Edith Foster of Sidney, Mr. Albert Hanks, Mrs. Jessie Grubb and Mrs. Maude Jones of Tilden. She also leaves 4 sisters: Mrs. Jennie Bayley of Wisconsin, Mrs. Emma Elley of Madison, Mrs. Mate Thoms of Lincoln, Mrs. Clara Chenney of Wisconsin, 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
