I think my Hannan line may be related to this one, because the names are so similar. I have a Thomas that originated in Ireland with a son Essom born 1752. He also fought in the Revolutionary war & lived around Boutgetort & Roanoke VA. Had children named Thomas (I have born 1768, not 67), William, John, Elizabeth, Esom, Mary, Edward, Jane, and Abraham.
I have the transcript from his pension application.
Here's a brief note I have on Essom (Esom imigrated from Ireland to the United States with his father Thomas. It isn't known if he was born here or in Ireland. Essom's wife Mary Greenlee was also from an Irish imigrant family. Esom was a Veteran of the American Revolutionary War. He was drafted for four separate 3 month services. He fought against Torries, Indians on Holstein River, and Long Island. Marched against Cherokee towns on Tennessee River and burned several of the towns under General Cristie. His services were under captain William McClanahan and Captain Looney in York in the blockade of Cornwallis for three weeks.)
I'm descended from Essom's son John-Essom-Keziah (Jerome)

Steve, I have William Hannan's date of death on September 29, 1903 in Gallia
County, Ohio. This was Eleanor's Father. William's Father was Henry Hannan
who was born April 22, 1796 in Pt. Pleasant, Virginia (now WVA). He died in
Swan Creek, Gallia County, Ohio on October 16, 1852. I suspect that Hannan's
Landing is somewhere near Gallia County.
BTW, Henry's Father was Thomas Hannan born in Frederick County, Va in 1757.
I got a lot of this information from the Richard Tibbett's Family History.
Much of this I received from Katherine Wilson who lived in Pt. Pleasant
until her death.
I have some interesting info on Thomas Hannan and John Hannan. Thomas
apparently distinguished himself during the Revolutionary War and was
actually at Yorktown. I would love to find out more about him. You are
undoubtedly related to Thomas. How far back have you traced your line?
Perhaps I can provide you some information.
