Subject: Searching for Hardy family in NC
Date: Mon, 28 Apr 1997 20:11:07 -0400 (EDT)
Hello,
I am searching for members of the Hardy family in Halfax Co., NC, possibly in
the
Littleton, Aurelia Springs, or Infield areas. The only information I have is
as follows:
George Washington Hardy (DOB 1856) married to Rebecca Perkins (DOB 1859) on
April 7, 1877 in Aurelia Spring, NC. This marriage was witnessed by Simon
Price,
Jack Burgess and Gidd Lee. George Washington Hardy was a former slave who
lived on the Perkins or Palmer Plantation. Rebecca Perkins was a free black
who
was the daughter of Hutt Perkins (mothers name unknown). It is believed that
George and Rebecca Hardy had eight children, including twins Mary and Martha.
Mary married William Wiggins Lee and is buried in the old Lee Chapel Cemetary
outside Littleton, NC.
If anyone is familiar with this family or the Perkins or Palmer Plantation,
the
information is greatly appreciated.
