If a chart can be made, then I would like to see it. I would try to do it,

Hi Gregg,

The enclosed descendancy charts depict two branches of the Roger Le Herice
line, of which, these are much simplified outline charts of very detailed
original charts. There is much evidence that both branches are related. We
believe that Harris DNA groups 4 and 12 are descended from these branches. There
are 4 possibilities as to descendancy and they are as follows;

1. Group 4 is of the Robert de Herice line and group 12 is of the William de
Herice line.

2. Group 12 is of the Robert de Herice line and group 4 is of the William de
Herice line.

3. Both group 4 and 12 are of the Robert de Herice line.

4. Both group 4 and 12 are of the William de Herice line.

There is also a Hugh Le Herice line descending in similar nature and
parallel to the charts included, but is not complete.

The only test that I could devise that made any sense to me, was to take the
DNA marker results from both groups 4 and 12 and then create the lowest
possible numerical combination of markers and assign that combination to our
earliest known ancestor, which would be either Roger or Hugh Le Herice. This
numerical combination would then show only advances in markers for each mutation
and no regressions. The result was that group 4 had 4 mutations and group 12
had 2 mutations, but by changing one numerical advance to a regression, the
result would be that each group had 3 mutations of different marker positions
within 960 years.

These were created and sent at your request, for your information, and in
case you had other tests you wished to apply to these charts. For the sake of
criteria, I would say that: We know the two branches of the William and Robert
de Herice lines are related; we know that group 12 is descended from one of
these branches; we believe that group 4 is also descended from one of these
branches. I think the question is: Can DNA support the paper trail and clarify
the position of group 4?
