John Anderson Brayton, "Colonial Families of Surry and Isle of Wight
Counties, Virginia, II: The Descendants of Robert Harris" (Memphis, 1999)
offers the most recent account of Robert Harris' family, a summary of
which follows. Brayton is a rigorous, careful, and thoughtful family
historian, and he works from primary records. He does not assign a father
to Robert Harris of Upper Parish, Isle of Wight County VA, which means
that he does not feel there is evidence to do so. Given his analysis, I'd
guess that previous attempts to connect Robert with better-known families
have been guesswork.

Here's Brayton's summary:
Robert Harris of Upper Parish/Isle of Wight County VA; dead 10 October
1659 xxx; married -----; she died before her husband; children:
1.Martha Harris; married ante 10 October 1659 -----: John Jennings;
he married next -----: Mary Seward; he died 1678/9 xxx; his widow married
next Thomas Alley
2.Mary Harris; married first ante 19 February 1663 -----: Anthony
Spiltimber, son of John Spiltimber Sr of Surry County VA; he died 30 March
1672 Surry County VA; married second post 30 March 1672 -----: Matthew
Children of Anthony and Mary (Harris) Spiltimber:
x.Martha Spiltimber; born 1667; married ante 7 March 1681
-----: Robert House Jr; children:
x.Mary House; married Thomas Carroll
Children of Matthew and Mary (Harris) Spiltimber Swann:
x.Elizabeth Swann; married first ca 1691 -----: John Drivw;
married second between February 1702/3 and January 1703/4 -----:
John Sugars, widower of -----
x.Mary Swann; married ca 1693 -----: William Phillips
x.Sarah Swann; married post 5 January 1702/3 -----: Carter

Best wishes.
