Howdy Ken,
Goodness, that thread went around the world. Another idea for discussion
could be why is that through my findings many of our ancestors, at least my
ancestors, died on or very near their birthdate?

G'day All,
The pronunciation here in Australia, across the 'really big pond', has
always been Harts-horn, pronounced more like Harts'orn with an almost
silent second 'h'.
When you see the name Hartshorn written hand written in old records, it
is easy to see why it can be incorrectly transcribed (or indexed) as
Hawthorn.
