I have found some information that may help:

1st: William's death certificate lists George Haslam as his father

2nd: The Book "History of Macon County Georgia" by Louise Frederick Hays- 1933, pgs 535 & 536. There is a two-page bio on the Haslam Family. It gives William's parents as George S. Haslam and Caroline Elizabeth Rumph both from South Carolina. The bio goes into to all of the children of George and Caroline.

3rd: Another book by Louise Frederick Hays, "The Rumph-Frederick Families..."-1942, pg 75 does state that Caroline E Rumph married a George S Haslam. p78- George and Caroline had a son named William that married Ellen Woodward and they live in Pinehurst.

4th: Caroline Haslam's Obit (Mar 1896)gives her husband as Col. George S. Haslam and her father as Col. Lewis Rumph.

I'm still looking for William's obit. That might also help to prove this link.
