James Hatcher Corbin
April 19, 2005
James Donald “Donnie” Hatcher, 57, Corbin, died April 19, 2005, at his
residence.
Hatcher dedicated his life to serving others. After graduating from Whitley
County High School in 1966, he served his country in Vietnam, served on the
board of directors for Cedar Ridge Ministries, served as the past president of
the Whitley County High School Band Boosters, and worked on the CSX Railroad
for 27 years.
He was ordained as a deacon in the Baptist faith at Sandstone Baptist Church
and was a member of the Frankfort Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Mavis Hatcher, his mother,
Henrietta Olds; and his grandparents, James and Georgia Strickland, who reared
him; and his father-in-law, Emmett Hart.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Hart Hatcher; his children: James Donald
Hatcher Jr. and Mary Hatcher, both of Corbin; and his grandchildren: Patricia
Hatcher, Rachel Hatcher, Ricky Lee Bunch and Matthew Bunch, both sons of
Mike Bunch, Corbin; one brother, Clyde Turner; one sister, Mavis Ramsey, both of
Corbin; and a mother-in-law, Kathleen Hart, Corbin.
Family members Emmett Hart Jr., Eric Hart, Russell Hart and Gladys Cornn,
all of Corbin, will also mourn his death, along with other family members and
numerous friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hart Funeral Home
chapel with the Rev. Keith Decker and the Rev. James Hodge officiating.
Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
