Asa Haven, s/o Daniel & Mehitabel Haven, of Framingham, MA, m. Eunice Aldis 3 Dec 1767. I have children from this marriage as Mehitabel b. 1768, John Aldis b. 1771, Eunice 1773 and Polly 1776, all in Framingham MA. I have no record of a Hiram or a Solomon. Asa is my fifth great grand-uncle. Is this possibly the same family?
1810 NY Census, Madison Co. p. 301 - N. Haven, 1 male under 10, 2 m 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 2 females under 10, 2 females 10-16, 1 female 26-45, 1 female 45+. Believe this is Nathan Jr. family, with mother-in-law, Ammer (Strickland) Haven, whose husband Peter died in 1809. J. Nelson is on page 302.
1820 NY Census index lists Nathan Haven in Madison Co., Lebanon.
Ephraim S. Havens, of Genesee Co. NY, entered Mar 14, 1836 land in Branch Co. MI, Batavia Twp. 160 acres SE 1/4 Sec 8 T 6 S, R 7 W; and 160 acres SE 1/4 Sec 5 T 6 R 7 W. ("Branch Co. MI County Land Purchases from 1819," Branch County Genealogical Society, PO Box 443, Coldwater MI 49036, 1996, p. 123).
The Haven/Havens families and the Nelson families (and others) may have traveled together. They were in Erie Co., PA in 1840 and in Branch Co., MI by 1850, then in Delaware Co., Iowa by 1856.
My 3rd great grandfather was Nathan Havens Nelson, s/o James and Roxsa (Haven) Nelson. He was b. 10 Jun 1796 in Sandisfield, Berkshire Co., MA and died 8 Aug 1886 in Masonville, Delaware Co. IA.
