I gave thought to the question of privacy of others within the ohana
when planning on publishing my genealogy at my website. The answer I
came up with was to only list names of those who are not only no longer
alive (other than my father), but are directly ascendant of myself. I
list none of the siblings of the unions, just the individuals who are my
personal ancestors. I don't even list my own siblings. The only thing
I show is that of each union there were X number of children. If the
person in question was married more than once, the only union listed is
again just the one that led to me directly.
The question of bragging...I'd not looked to my genealogy as being a
brag... I also have ali'i and kahuna ancestral roots...but had not
looked upon the mention of such as being a brag...just a matter of
fact...perhaps a fact that might lead to more? Had not thought to
publish my personal lineage was to "display my ancestors' bones"...just
a description that might lead to information that could fill in some of
the blanks...
However, all that aside, even what I have listed has not brought about
any kind of response from anyone...guess I don't have any relatives in
the proverbial woodwork out there to come to light on the internet. But
I do hope what I have done has not offended anyone and may one day lead
to some of the missing links that I am unable to find while living here
in Virginia.
Meanwhile, I just keep watching the list in hopes that one day I might
find a link to someone else who may write in. And if I find that I have
contact with someone who might be able to lend assistance to someone
else on the list in their search, I try to put them together. Hopefully
one day some information will find its way to my door as well...
Aloha no!
