Subject: [HAWAII-L] MALO, David - Hawaiian Minister & Educator
Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 17:39:14 -0700
Hello,
I am interested in researching some Hawaiian genealogy on the
surname MALO. I grew up on Maui in the 1940/50's and attended Wailuku Union
Church and heard much of David MALO as a youth while in Pilgrim Fellowship.
He was quite revered and an early educator and minister. My sister is now
very active with an Episcopal Church in Kihei that meets in the open air
ruins of David Malo's church. They would like to learn more about him to
honor him in their records and on a placque or something. Also to honor him
and his descendants perodically when they have church anniversaries, like
churches do every 25 years or so. As a youth I remember helping to clean
up another open air ruins in Olowalu where I think David Malo also preached.
I would like to find out more about this man. If it is permissible
I'd like to find the kapuna for this family to ask permission to collect and
record information on this important family in Hawaiian history. I do not
intend to publish these records but to give them to the elders of the church
in Kalepolepo. (I called it Kihei above). I have found a couple articles
on him but want to find more, things that maybe only a kapuna would know.
Can anyone help?

I want to find out more about this man. Also his family and when

Any help would be appreciated.
