Aloha kakou. I am looking for my husband's mothers family. Her name was
Lucille Grace Mata, born on Moloka'i in 1926 ir so, dies in California in
1975. She left Hawaii to dance with Harry Owens and the Royal
Hawaiians...probably went to Los Angeles...in the late 30's or early 40's.
Had one son, then my husband in '46, then 3 more children, all born in
California.

She said her family name was Ka'ai or Kahai or Kahae.

We haven't found birth records (looked through LDS family center computers
and hard copies. Also searched all 1926 births in Hawaii..no name match
found).

Anyone out there have family who was with Harry Owens? Anyone remember her?
We have a couple of photos from that era. We are looking for any surviving
kin.
